56. The thermal resistance prescribed in section 51 and 52 for roofs and ceilings separating a heated space from an unheated space or the outside air may be reduced near the eaves to the extent made necessary by the roof slope and required ventilation clearances. However, the thermal resistance directly above the inner surface of the exterior wall shall be at least 2.1 m2 • °C/W.
